Matthew Hayes Osborne, Esq.
Matthew received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Virginia Tech and graduated early from the University of Maryland School of Law in two and a half years. He is admitted to practice law in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and various Federal Courts including the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. As a litigator he has tried and argued numerous cases before Juries and Judges in matters such as civil rights, wrongful death, medical negligence, criminal matters, and property disputes. He is often retained by clients to resolve estate disputes, corporate compliance issues, and tax matters. He is of counsel and continues to try cases for the litigation firm of Schmidt, Kirifides, Pearson, Koutcher, and Fridkin with offices in Wilmington, Delaware and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Having seen the litigation side of the law he appreciates the necessity for proper estate and tax planning, including the need to pass property and assets to loved ones in an effective and economic manner. In addition to estate plans that preserve money for clients’ future generations and loved ones, Matthew prepares documents that effectively protect assets from potential creditors and plan for the management of assets during incapacity and death. As a father of five, he understands the need to plan and provide for children in life and beyond. As all families are different, so are all of the estate plans he prepares; each being specifically tailored to the needs and desires of his clients. Matthew educates his clients, colleagues and professionals on how various documents, trusts and plans can be used to save tax dollars and plan for incapacity and unforeseen events. With education and guidance, Matthew assists individuals in communicating their desires and goals to their families and loved ones during life, avoiding the all too frequent misunderstandings that lead to family conflict after the death of a loved one.
Each client is unique; there is no one technique that works for everyone. It is the understanding of each particular client’s wishes, combined with experience and knowledge of the various techniques and tools available that help the attorney and client solidify one’s specific desires and assure that after death they are actualized. |
